About the Intellectuals CC

The Intellectuals Cricket Club first established itself as a cricket team on 21 September 1997: the occasion being a match against Marks and Clerk, a law firm from UK. At the time, the Intellectuals were known by the acronym of the organisation the majority of the players worked for, i.e. the OHIM (Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market). The office deals with intellectual property and hence the team name.

Over the years the Intellectuals have played matches against teams from up and down the Mediterranean coast, Madrid, the occasional touring team, while making annual tours abroad itself. The club is fully affiliated to Cricket España (the Spanish Cricket Association) and participates in the Cricket España league competition. In April 2010, after many years of trying, the Intellectuals CC acquired its own home ground at the Bonalba Golf and Spa Resort in Alicante and the club has now made it a permanent venue [Linea 23 Autobus Alicante-Muchamiel / Linea M1 Autobus Muchamiel-Urbanizaciones].
