The East India Cricket Club is the cricket team run by the East India Club, which has its home on St James’s Square. While, the East India Club was founded back in the middle of the 19th century, the cricket club was founded in 1939 and after a period of absence was re-established some ten years ago. The cricket club plays its cricket in London and the Home Counties and when on tour in more far flung places abroad. This years’ tour to Spain with matches against the Intellectuals CC at the Bonalba Cricket Ground also saw the East India CC celebrate its 100th match after re-establishing with a resounding victory albeit that the honours were shared after a win for the home side on the following day – the visitors no doubt feeling the effects of the strenuous training regimes teams are put through when on tour.
