Chairman's Chat
On the results side, just after my last update, it was another good performance against Cove Rangers but a disappointing 2-1 defeat. Great credit to the guys in difficult conditions but like our previous away fixture against Forres, we played some good football throughout the 90 minutes and felt a little hard done by, not getting anything from the match except a lot of positive comments from the opposition management.
That fixture was surrounded by various postponements against Formartine and Clach at Harlaw and our away trip against Buckie Thistle. It was great to see a couple of weeks ago that we eventually got our first Home game of 2012 against Brora Rangers. Although we looked a bit “ring rusty” at times (that was understandable) we cannot complain at a fine 6-1 win. We followed that result with another good victory, last Saturday, at Banff against Deveronvale. Hopefully, these back to back wins will raise the squad confidence and we can look forward to a run of 3 home matches during the coming weeks.
We are now in a position to update you on the latest news on the player situation. A further 3 squad players have agreed to contract extension this week. Ryan Broadhurst, Jamie Michie and Keiron Adams have all agreed to sign until June 2015.
We are always actively trying to add to the squad and have recently held talks with a couple of players. Firstly we spoke to Ryan Stott but unfortunately he chose to sign for Cove Rangers. We also spoke to Stuart MacKay but we were advised that he was staying at Formartine United. John Maitland remains unknown at this time. We have paid for Daniel Bell’s final instalment to Brora Rangers.
Derek Smart has stepped down from his position of Youth Liason Officer. There is no further progress to report on how we replace Derek. I have some ideas on this matter depending on how we move forward. Craig Stratton has had a general discussion with me and feels there may not be a need for somebody sitting on the committee all the time. However we do need some form of liaison. I would prefer if we could retain Derek’s services as he is well known to the clubs, the age groups we are wishing to target (and he helps the average age of the committee significantly).
We can also announce that the Locos Annual Spring Ball will take place at the Thainstone Exchange on Saturday 28th April 7 for 7.30pm. Tables of 10 are now available at a cost of £550. Businesses and individuals are advised to book soon as tables are being booked quickly. Contact Gill Macaulay on 07752 257124 or email m.t.macaulay@btinternet.com.
You can also find some minutes from the recent Highland League Management Committee meeting on this website – from the Homepage – Club Info/Documents.
Remember, if you have any questions about the club or our future plans then please ask myself or any members of the committee.
Keep up your good support.
Willie
