Goals galore at Henley Road as bizarre game ends in 6-6 draw
M3 held by Watton in a game where attack was the best (only) defence
Lots and lots of goals in a game where attack was the only defence. A hat-trick for Baz and a brace for Ollie Pipe were negated by some poor defending in a game where Ipswich led 4-2 at half time but were never in control against a very attack minded Watton team. Greg opened the scoring early on before the Watton captain scored with an unchallenged shot (he was later to score 2 more goals in almost identical fashion); from there Baz made it 2-1 before Ipswich conceded a soft goal from a PC as Watton equalised again. Goals from Ollie and Baz saw the half end with Ipswich in control before Watton scored 3 quick goals in the second half to take control. Mark Davies struck before Baz put us ahead again only for Watton to level things out with 10 minutes to go. Ipswich had chances to win the game but for a couple of great saves from the Watton keeper. In fairness the scoreline reflected the balance of the game where neither defence had a clue what to do when attacked at pace. Not a game for the purists or for poor stretch who saw 12 goals flash past him in 2 hours of hockey as if he was in a practice match.
