Wanderers to host U's in friendly
Ipswich Wanderers have announced they will face Colchester United’s Under 18 side in a friendly next week.
Wanderers will host the U’s FA Youth Cup squad at Humber Doucy Lane on Tuesday 10th January (7pm k.o).
Terry Fenwick, Wanderers chairman, said: “We are delighted to welcome Colchester’s youngsters to the Doucy. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our squad to be tested against players of such a high level.”
The game was organised through the CUFC Centre of Excellence Manager Sean Thacker by Wanderers committee member Ed Nicholls.
Wanderers ended a disappointing 2011 on a high, as the club picked up consecutive victories away at Stowmarket Town and home against local rivals Whitton United, to lift the side up to 14th in the Ridgeons League Division One table.
Terry Fenwick added: “The new management team of Glenn Reid and Steve Jay have started well and improved the results at the club, and we’re hoping that performances continue to get stronger so we can push on up the table.
Admission for the game will be £3 for adults and £2 for concessions.
