Wanderers beat Fakenham
The last home match of the season brings another 3 points
Ipswich Wanderers finished their last home game with a win against the Ghosts of Fakenham. The last three meetings between Wanderers and Fakenham have ended in a 0-0 draws the most recent coming just last week up in Norfolk.
The match was fairly young when Wanderers edged into the lead, Billy Holland turned the ball into the net on 7 minutes to make it 1-0. Only 3 minutes later The Ghosts restored parity levelling the scores at 1-1. As the half wore on the Ipswich found themselves under some pressure, Fakenham were able to make a free kick count in the 23rd minute when the resultant shot at goal was caught by Wanderers keeper Tyler Hursey only for a Fakenham player kick the ball from his clutches, this wasn’t seen by the referee and the goal stood.
At half time the score was Wanderers 1-2 Fakenham
Boyed by the injustice of the first half Wanderers set about the job in hand with renewed enthusiasm. Only ten minutes into the 2nd period, Craig “The bearded wonder” Jennings chipped a ball over the head of the Fakenham keeper to bring the scores level. The game then entered a balanced period of play with chances occurring at both ends of the pitch. Fortunately Wanderers were able to finish their last home game with a win when Matt Mackenzie scored on 61 minutes. CJ the scorer of Wanderers second goal was replaced by the enthusiastic Ross Beech on 70 minutes.
