Am I bothered?
Today’s match was meaningless to anyone following the Wanderers; the real work had been done earlier in the year and whatever the score Ipswich would end the day in mid table above local rivals Whitton.
Every player that has pulled on a blue shirt in the 2014-15 campaign should be feeling proud of themselves; this season has been one of the clubs best. We were only promoted last year yet we have taken the top flight in our stride and now find ourselves here on merit.
The season started very brightly for us with some great early wins and at one point we even found ourselves in second. There was also some cup glory with an awesome draw away at Wingate & Finchley, which was a great day out for the whole club.
The middle section of the season did tail off somewhat, injuries started to bite and the fixture programme started to become a little patchy with games called off for unplayable pitches which makes it difficult to build up momentum. Also the club suffered a huge loss with the death of Roger and we should never underestimate the effect this had on us all.
Things really started to turn back around when we scored 5 away at Clacton, a match with farcical goings on off the field and a snow blizzard at one point on it. Beating local rivals Whitton 4-1 at home was real high point and must go down as the performance of the year, the atmosphere in the ground that night was amazing.
Ipswich went on to have a huge Easter period with back to back wins against Gorleston and Felixstowe that secured top flight status, this was followed by 4-0 win away at least seasons champions Hadleigh.
After this there was never anything left to play for, Glenn did wonderers to keep the boys going right until the end but after signing off with a home win against Fakenham, it was flogging a dead horse. All eyes are now firmly on the summer and a well-deserved rest, now where are my lime green speedos?
Well done lads.
We love you, We love you, We love you,
And that is why we follow!
