Perry on top form as Irlam progress

A brace from Marcus Perry, followed up by a goal apiece from Matty Boland and Karl Cassell ensured IRLAM progressed smoothly into the next round of the FA Vase.
A busy first half saw Irlam take the lead after just two minutes as Perry found space early on down the right side before finding Boland, the no10 whipping the ball past the Burscough keeper before he had time to react.
A great start from the home side however would soon be undone, a quick move down the right side by Burscough's Terry would lead to a ball in that found Chad Whyte, the Burscough forward finishing well to even up the score.
To Irlam's shock, Burscough were in again on 14 minutes, a near identical move this time finished well by Terry at the near post to extend the visitors lead. The unpredictable 1st half saw the scores change again, virtually from the kick off, Perry would find space down the right, the Irlam winger cutting in unchallenged before firing home to make it 2-2.
With just 30 minutes gone, the goals continued to flow as Irlam retook the lead , Boland turning provider with a great run and cross that found Perry as the Irlam winger fired Irlam into a 3-2 lead at the break

Burscough had the first chance early in the second period, Chad Whyte again finding space to draw an excellent save from Irlam keeper Lee White, whilst at the other end of the pitch, Connor Martin broke free, a rasping shot that stung the Burscough keepers gloves.
With twenty minutes left in the game, the decisive goal came, and when Joel Amado curled in a perfect corner, Irlam centre half Karl Cassell arrived unchallenged to fire home what seemed like the goal that would settle the game as Irlam took a 4-2 lead.
The remainder of the game saw the competition lose it's momentum, both sides breaking up the game with substitutions, but on the final whistle Irlam's rich vein of form would continue, as all eyes now fall on the trip to the North East next Saturday when the side travel to Gateshead in the FA Cup third qualifying round where they face Dunston UTS FC
