Irlam look to turn around their fortunes.

IRLAM FC go into this afternoon's fixture at the Ambitek Stadium off the back of some disappointing results recently, and without a win to their name since a 3-1 away victory at Ashton back in early December the team are ready to turn around their fortunes. On closer inspection, games against the two Runcorn sides,a last minute winner for Padiham and a winning goal controversially chalked off for Irlam against Congleton recently tells a story more of frustration than poor play.
Our visitors today , Nelson FC are enduring a tough campaign this season, and have much work to do to move out of the bottom three and back into the safety zone of the Premier Division. A 2-0 home defeat last weekend for Nelson at the hands of an improving Winsford UTD will have been disappointing for the Admirals coming into today's fixture, although the same could be said of Irlam's fixture away at Runcorn Town where two gift wrapped opening goals and a sodden pitch effectively handed the three points to the home side on a plate.
All said, this afternoon's fixture is vital to both Clubs as they look to turn around recent form and push on as the table begins to take shape.
Irlam manager Steve Nixon is in philosophical mood as he goes into the game today.
" We go in to the fixtures on a bad run but our performances haven’t really warranted a solitary point from the previous 6 fixtures. Runcorn Town & Linnets are both tough games and not many sides pick up points against them and in our other 4 games we’ve deserved more than we got. That said we have to cut out individual errors and make more of our chances at the other end. Today, I expect us to mix it up and take the game to Nelson. Their confidence will be in the balance with just 3 wins all season and 15 points on the board."
Kick off is 3pm at the Ambitek Stadium.
