IRLAM FC V PADIHAM FC PREVIEW

Another cracking game in store at the Ambitek Stadium

WELCOME TO THE AMBITEK STADIUM

Good afternoon and welcome to the Ambitek Stadium for an afternoon of Hallmark Premier Division football.
We extend a warm welcome to the players, staff and supporters of Padiham FC and hope they enjoy the afternoon in our company regardless of the result.
Football is certainly a game of highs and lows, and the last 7 days have been proof indeed of this. A tight fixture against league leaders Runcorn Town would ultimately lead to 3-2 defeat despite leading 2-1 in the game, the players coming so close to breaking Towns unbeaten run.
Following that, a thriller at West Didsbury saw our players emerge victorious, a 5-3 scoreline that was a reflection of an exciting game at the Recreation ground on the Friday night.
Tuesday night away at Squires Gate brought everyone down to earth with a bump, a last second goal for the home side completely undoing our superiority, as we went down 2-1. Yes, it certainly is a funny old game.
On the same night, our visitors this afternoon, Padiham also suffered a defeat, Abbey Hey stealing the points away from the Memorial ground on a night that would have seen them as frustrated as us as they went down 2-1. They did however bounce back in no uncertain terms on Thursday evening when they thrashed Daisy Hill FC 8-2 in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy. Certainly a busy week for the Padiham players as they prepare for their visit to the Ambitek on Saturday.
Last season’s corresponding fixture saw a 1-1 draw played out as Christian Lawlor was on hand to equalise from an earlier Padiham goal, and who could forget Padiham’s last minute winner to grab all three points in the return fixture. There is no doubt recent games between the two clubs have been tight affairs and there is nothing to suggest that this afternoon will be any different.
A quick mention also to our fantastic sportsman’s evening last Saturday which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Our guest speaker Norman Whiteside was excellent and the evening was a complete success. My thanks go to Nicko and Boardy and all around the night who made it such a great occasion. Roll on the next one!!!!
