Eccleshall FC 1 IRLAM FC 5
IRLAM's preparations on track
A convincing 5-1 defeat of a young and skilful Eccleshall side saw IRLAM get into their stride as the season start gets closer. The home side certainly started the brighter, giving the IRLAM defence much to think about as they constantly had to stop quick players running through.
However, on 20 minutes Foulds was alert and on hand as he pounced on a loose ball back , waiting until the last second before rolling the ball under the oncoming keeper.
The home side continued to put pressure on, and ten minutes later they were back in the game, a deflected free kick falling into the path of a home player who finished well to make it 1-1 at the break.
The second half saw IRLAM take control of the fixture as the young players of Eccleshall began to tire.
5 minutes into the second period and Foulds was on hand to head powerfully home a Marcus Perry cross to make it 2-1.
New signing Jordan Buckley joined the game on 66 minutes and made an immediate impact, a perfect curling left foot strike that the keeper couldn't keep out.
Buckley would show again in the 78th minute, when Martin picked out the Irlam forward who fired through a sea of bodies and past the keeper to make it 4-1.
The last action of the game saw Connor Martin get his reward for 90 minutes of hard work, a cross in from Matty Boland splitting the Eccleshall defence to leave Martin unmarked to fire home.
