Islip CC kick off the 2018 season

This year's extended season was to have begun with a first ever visit to picturesque Kempsford in the Cotswolds. However, the weather has not been our friend and it has not been possible for either club to prepare a wicket. Islip’s first game should now be on April 22nd on Enstone’s artificial wicket and we are all hoping for a period of warm dry weather.

This year the Islip squad is delighted to welcome back Zach Redding, grandson of Club President Keith Milner. Zach has now recovered from the damage he did to himself last year trying to do something incomprehensibly difficult with a skateboard. The pictures of his injury that he sent though spoilt tea for a number of squad members. And- something of a bonus this - perhaps because his grandfather has banned him from the kitchen at home, Zach has joined the club's tea roster for the first time this year.

Away matches bring with them some pluses and some minuses. Away go the concerns about pitch marking and rolling to be replaced with questions about where we are going, who will bring the kitbag and what time to be at the Village Hall. But that's not all. There is always the possibility that people will go to the wrong place. In this respect Zach has form. Was it Enstone instead of Astons or Bladon instead of Baldons? These days the detail of the past misdemeanour is forgotten, we just remember that it happened. In the build up to our trip to Enstone, we hope that skipper Ollie Black will pay special attention to Zach's travel arrangements.

Our first home game this year is on 6th May. We hope you’ll come and join the club’s supporters on the terrace, enjoy the British summer and share some of the lively opinions of the club’s performance that doubtless will be expressed. Players (no previous experience required) and spectators alike are always welcome.
