Newton Abbot U15's 82 V Ivybridge U15's 17

Ivybridge were given a sharp lesson in how to play fast, direct running
Rugby when they travelled to Newton Abbot. From the kick off Newton
Abbot set the standard when their quick, decisive movement saw them
score in the first minute. Newton Abbot continued in the same vein and
Ivybridge were left chasing shadows. Ivybridge finally managed to get
their hands on the ball but due to the pressure that Newton Abbot put
them under were unable to make any headway. Dan Bailey finally managed
to get free and went over in the corner to put the first points on the
board for Ivybridge with Chris Williams converting.
The second half continued in the same way with Newton Abbot still producing some lovely free flowing Rugby. Ivybridge to their credit continued to try and play and were rewarded when following a strong and determined run down the wing, Kyle Turner scored in the corner. Toby Evans added Ivybridge's final score of the day again following another nice passing move from the Ivybridge Team. While there was an obvious
difference in the ability of both teams, Ivybridge held their own in
the scrums and lineouts and at times proved that when they keep their
heads, their passing can be as good as anyone's, however the whole
team needs to understand the necessity for them all to make their
tackles if they are to continue their improvement this season.
Owen Sanford, Sam Venn, George Hamblin and Kyle Turner deserve a mention for the tenacity they showed with and without the ball.
