Comments following the 29-20 loss away at Ivybridge

"Yesterday's Exmouth performance was extremely poor all round, and we got what we deserved which was nothing. A huge amount of very basic errors from almost everyone in the squad, coaches included , contributed to what has to be our worst performance as a team in a number of years and one that certainly needs to be looked at.

"When you consider that the role of the forwards is to provide platforms to play from, and the set piece return from line out was about 25%, that gives you some indication as to how bad we were. Line outs not straight, line outs overthrown, some good defensive strategy from Ivybridge, and some poor delivery from ourselves were our downfall. As a group of backs, we failed to execute very basic strike moves on a first phase on at least six or seven occasions with forward passes and dropped balls. The standards we achieved are simply not acceptable and full credit to Ivybridge who used their possession to much greater affect that ourselves and looked dangerous throughout.

"At 22-20 down and a relatively easy penalty chance, we actually could have sneaked a win, but in all honesty, this would not have been deserved, or fair on Ivybridge who were by far the better side.

"The return of Chris Bentley, Ruairi Cushion, Richard Bright and Will Goulden will hopefully give us some more options next week. Harvey Ridgeway must also be in the thinking after scoring four tries in the 2nd xv's 80-40 victory over Ivybridge 2nd xv. Richard Cadywould is another candidate to force his way back in.

"A number of player will also have an opportunity to stake their claim in Tuesday's 'A' Xv game against Taunton Titans 'A' Xv at Exmouth, 7.30pm kick Off. "
