Friendly Fixture Saturday 9th September. Jarrovians 0-50 Blyth

A bright and breezy day welcomes Blyth to Luke's lane stadium for the curtain raiser to the curtain raiser of the season against a Jarrovians select 15. It was a bright and breezy Jarrow team that started the game with some of the big money summer signings exciting the large and valuable crowd from the first whistle.

New coach Mickey Wright's influence was soon apparent with skipper Ryan Pargeter leaving the dark recesses of the front row to ply his trade on the flank.

Blyth were showing their own skills however it was only tacķles from Liam Reay and Joe Watson that denied them to an early score.

Jarrovians playmaker Mike Lawrence had to leave the field with a shoulder injury and had to be replaced by ex academy star Jordan Campbell.

The visitors continued to harry the Jarrovians defence and it was no surprise when the ran in a couple of late first half tries.

In the second period Blyth lifted the game and Jarrovians tired with the inevitable result.

A rash of late tries led to a rather flattering scoreline for the visitors but it was a reality check for the jarrow team.

Match report thanks to Bob Winn.

Captain Ryan Pargeter was pleased with the attitude and fight the team showed.
"We started out well with a mixed jarrovians team and started well, first half was a battle with jarrow out on top until a few big injurys set us back but we battled until the end. Plenty of positives from the team stuff weve practised pre season sets us up good for the season opener with seaham next week"

Chairman Brian Berry also added "
With the league season upon us the fun and games of preseason and giving everyone run outs to determine the best line stops now
Training will be focused on seaham and how we can turn the preparation into wins on the pitch
Blyth was a good measure of what we can expect over the next few weeks
The lads are up for the challenge and looking ahead to another competitive season.

We would also like to thank our clubs sponsors.
