last home league game

Saturday April 8th sees Jarrovians 1s entertain Houghton Le spring at Luke’s lane
This will be the last home league game of the season and the penultimate league game with the final game away to runner away leaders Aycliffe in two weeks’ time
Back to this week we welcome Houghton to Lukes Lane what looks like will be a sunny warm afternoon, if you can believe the forecasters
Houghton I guess will admit they have not lived up to expectation this season , as sure they were hoping to push on from last season ,having played 19 games won 11 they will be hoping to come and secure maximum point to enable them to close the cap on Seghill and finish 5th in the league
Captain Ryan Pargter and Coach Steve Wearmouth welcome Ryan Pink and his team and have prepared well this week with some strong training sessions with a specific game plan in mind
Last time out the first 20 minutes were very competitive , however a couple of silly mistakes one a penalty try allowed Houghton to build a head of steam and finish with a comfortable win
This time out Jarrovians have welcomed some new blood and returning players to the squad who will help make this a very competitive game
Terry Kirkham at 8 , Phil Mcleod on the engine room, Joe riley and Dave Mculla on the wings should help provide some real go forward
Saturday also sees the return of Arran Carling returning from injury this will help in the mid field with the absence of Ian Carrol and Mike Lawerence.
This week is still too early for the retuning pair of Chris Haliday and Ben Lane, both will be back for next week’s Easter touring side visiting Lukes Lane
Chris McIntosh will start on the flank with Lewis Holman missing after some recent surgery , Joe Watson starts again in the backs with his ability to fit in anywhere across the back line
The bench sees a lot of youth, with coach and captain planning for next season

The second team travel to Whitley Bay Rockcliffe with a strong set up with a lot of guys unlucky not to have made the first team, after training hard over the last few week but you can only pick a squad of 20

We wish both teams good luck and see you back in the club house for some fine entertainment
