It has been confirmed today that Jed-Forest Captain Gregor Young, will join twin brother Lewis in the Scotland 7s squad on a two-year contract. His first year will be on a elite development basis and his second year on a full professional contract.
He said: “I’m over the moon to have signed for Scotland 7s, it’s exciting that Lewis and I have the opportunity now to play together for our country. We work well together.
“This is the first stepping stone to a career in rugby and I hope to develop as much as I possibly can. I know it’s going to be hard work, but I’m prepared to put in the work and hopefully I’ll feature in a couple of tournaments.”
Today’s announcement, bolsters Phil Greening’s squad even further after the announcement of the 12 new club players earlier this week. His player-pool now stands at 28, with a full-time squad of 16.
Greening said: “We’re delighted to welcome Gregor into the squad, he has recently returned from a shoulder injury, but his performances for his club have been consistent.
“He has a lot of potential. He’s very good at seeing and hitting lines and he is a good finisher, with a lot of tries to his name.”
