Just when Jed saw a glimmer of hope with a gutsy win against Kelso on Saturday, the cruel hand of fate slammed down on us today. Jed lost 5 - 34 to Hawick in the RBS Cup & Skelly Cup clash but injuries were the main story of the game.

Gregor Young was once again taken tho the BGH with yet another shoulder injury. Ewan Scott and Chris Page also suffered shoulder injuries but the full extent of those is unknown at present. Jed also lost 2 more props during a torrid match when Allan Frame (hamstring) and Graeme Slorance (ankle) had to leave the field. This resulted in the last 20 minutes of the game being played with un competitive scrums.

All these new injuries follow on from the news that Neil Cook injured his hand again in training before the Kelso game and that could possibly be his last game for Jed. His injury is pretty serious.

In the match Rory Hutton was once again Jed's tormentor and he sent John Coutts in for Hawicks first try. We were soon 14 - 0 down but David Gobby showed great speed and balance to score Jed's only points of the game. Hawick scored again to lead 19 - 5 at half time.

Jed were never really in the game but some gutsy defending kept the score down untill the last 10 minutes. Hawick scored 2 late tries to take an easy 34 - 5 win.

The fixtures keep coming and we play Peebles on Saturday. We seem to be running out of front row though, so watch this space.
