It was overcast with a bit of wind, and the pitch was heavy going. But the 2s didnt care. The team, as always, called together at the last minute, and the team sheet settled not long after. Calls were sent out to the up and coming players from the Thistle, and to the Jedhart Carehome Elite to throw aside their Zimmers and show the young-uns how its done. A few shocks were in store, none the least our new No. 8...Grant Johnstone.

The 1st half started with Jed taking it straight to their opponents, putting serious pressure on the Wanderers defensive line, but with all credit they kept us out for the try we deserved. Jed scored the first points from a penalty kicked by Martin Chisholm, who had been down since midday trying to find his kicking boots. Wanderers fought back, and eventually it paid off with a score for themselves.

The 2nd half was more of a battle than the 1st with both teams putting everything in. A couple of times Wanderers had Jed pinned on our line and little reward for their effort. Pip was thrown over the line by the forward support for his try. 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Sandy Degnan made his 2nds debut by ending the 80min streak of Nicky Bates, and put in a good shift at prop. Jamie came on late in the game, and after being fed a good pass, decided to pin his ears back and score a try in the corner.

Everyone on the pitch put themselves into this game. Chris Page really put himself about for the whole 80, Grant Johnstone may have finally found his position in the squad! Young Players, Sandy Degnan, Jason Barrie and Tom Macdonald all done a fine job on their debut outing. We look forward to these lads joining us in the future. To the lads that showed up but werent eligible to play, thank you for the support!

Thankfully injuries were limited to minor knocks and Steven Scott finally broke his injury jinx and only came off with cramp.

Try Scorers were Martin Chisholm, Greame 'Pip' Renwick and Jamie Anderson. Conversions and Pens kicked by Martin.

Player Of The Day. Due to the various callout it was decided to have 3 categorys.

U20s was awarded to Jason Barrie for an excellent performance.
OverTheHill was awarded to Pip Renwick for showing the auld yins still have it and providing a much needed Vocal control which has been missed.
And lastly to Martin Chisholm for having an outstanding game, carried alot of ball up front and completed 80mins without punching anyone so he could get off. Since he asked for this after the game, im to let everyone know how awesome he is, that he played an outstanding game, and that he is single and looking for a carefree Labrador owner.

Dick Of The Day would have been difficult to award if it wasnt for one standout moment. Steven Scott was on for a definite Try but came down with a serious dose of White Line Fever and decided to Fudge a pass instead. Tattie Elder also gets special mention for coming on and disgracing the Seniors.

LVP is awarded to Jack 'Im gan Skiing' Fraser for having a poor excuse for no playing. However Karma made sure his flight was diverted and he was 6 hours late for going on the piste.

It was a great feeling after the game, and Paul Cranston really put it across how important it was for everyone to pull together for the club. That a strong 2nds team helps support the club. Going forward, Paul, Roy Laidlaw and others are going to start putting time into the 2s. Its asked that as many players as possible start coming to training Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you cant make it, let someone know.

Any details missed, please let me know and ill update the match report, altho i had plenty time to watch the game while on pitch, it difficult remembering particulars.
