Kings U21's first Cup Match
Kings U21 narrowly lose an exciting Cup Match against Reeds.
MATCH REPORT 18th December
Kings U21 28 v 34 Reeds U21
Tries – Marie Chawla (2) , Jeff Gill
Conversions – Olli Weir 1 Robbie Macdonald 1
Penalties – Olli Weir 3
Best Back – Martie Chawla
Best Forward – Freddie Edwards
After a good positive start the discipline slipped and we gave away 20 penalties in the first half! Including a yellow card. Three of the penalties lead to try scoring opportunities for Reeds so we turned around at half time 10:22 down. Only a well taken interception try by Martie (Best Back) had kept us in the game. A second intercept try early in the second half, this time by Jeff Gill, helped to close the gap and although Reeds didn’t cross the line again they were able to take 12 points from 4 more penalties! The Kings boys didn’t give up, finishing on a high with Martie’s second try set up by a long miss-pass from Olli Weir. The Forwards matched Reeds with a huge defensive effort and Freddie Edwards was Best Forward for his all round work rate. A BIG thank you to the whole squad of 21 boys who all played their part, Andy Hoyal for being captain and to Andrew Dennis & Richard Ramsey for assisting on the day.
