Yes, this is a match report...

Second, just...

As our Honorary Secretary was so convinced we wouldn’t publish a report I thought I should double guess him and produce one. And why not indeed. There was nothing to be ashamed of. The XV who played did their very best but against arguably the form team of the league were always going to be second best. Rugby has become a cruel game with points racking up so easily. England scored 60 in an international against Scotland. 90 is, okay, half as much again but it really doesn’t take long to score.
Firstly to our hosts. Apologies for not staying after the game but this was communicated in advance and Camberley appreciated the reasons and effort we had made. Camberley are much improved from a few seasons ago and their coaching team have a team that plays good, simple rugby. The match was slightly spoilt by the unnecessary red card to the Camberley winger with just a few minutes of the game left for a thirty yard sprint prior to laying out Lorcan. With the new sanctions for blows to the head he is unlikely to play again this season and rightly so.
We started the day with 18. Ben was called away by a family crisis, Brook’s plain was delayed and he never made the game but at least he tried and was willing and then George was injured in the pre warm up… (getting changed I think). So we had just 15. We had to shuffle our pack. We had five props in the 8. Easy. Joe, Squid and Brett were the front 3, Lorcan and Ryan played lock and Dan, Jac and Tiddles were the back row. We then had Pete at 9, Mikey 10, Dugs and Minors in the center with Ed and Coops on the wing. Wee played 15. The only snag was that Coop threw in to the lineout which meant Squid played some of the game on the wing… Yes, I know… not ideal.
We did score two tries and maybe could have got four which was the target. Firstly Tiddles from 3m and then, hold on, Tiddles on the wing running it in and all but under the posts from 20m after slick passing from Ed Reid. Dugs got the one conversion. Other highlights were few and far between. We practised kicking off quite a lot and scrums and lineouts were sound. Sadly everywhere else we were outplayed but there was never a lack of effort. Good to see Dan back and rampaging around and we could go on and mention everyone but you all know you were there. A huge thanks to those that stepped up to play, I will remember it.
Dugs is passionate about the game. He wants the team to be the best(we could be) and anything less he is rightly dismayed by. Anyone who witnessed the huddle at the end of the game will realise how much it means to Tom and we owe it to him to do better. The 16 at Camberley did their absolute best but it’s the 42 others, yes 42, who have played for the 1XV this season who need to step up. Only with a commitment to the whole season will we challenge to win the league. At our level there is enough space in the calendar to plan holidays around the matches. Three games to go this season. You all know what we should do.
