This was a superbly entertaining performance by the whole squad. Kings scored first and were 3 points down at half-time (10:7) but could easily have been 10 points ahead if a few last-passes in the red zone had stuck. An early try by Francis Dwan from distance in the second half put Kings ahead (10:14), but a knock-on at the re-start gave Richmond territory and they scored a soft try of first phase from the subsequent scrum to re-take the lead (17:14). Another flowing Kings try by Diggy put Kings back in the lead with 30 minutes to play (17:19). Sustained Richmond pressure in the last quarter saw them score two more tries and despite their very best efforts the Kings boys couldn’t respond this week. A BIG thank you from me to all 22 boys who turned out today, particularly to those senior boys who have now played their last U21’s matches – good luck with your Finals! A BIG thank you also to the bench of junior players who had to be very patient today to get on to the pitch, but really played an important part when they did come on – your time will come! Thanks also to Richard & Jotty for your support as coaches, Jane as Physio and to all the parents who came to watch.
