A hat-trick of wins for the KPs.

The King Prawns put in another faultless display at the WSM Charity 7s to win their third successive Cup title.

The final for the third year in a row was contested between the KPs and Wimbledon RFC. It was the hosts who went off fastest crossing twice in quick succession both, crucially as it transpired, in the corner - neither was converted. The second score against a subdued KPs appeared to jolt them into life and two tries, the second under the sticks and converted, meant the KPs turned around with a slender lead.

The second period was a cagey affair, and it took several minutes before home defence dropped their guard and the KPs stretched their advantage to 19-10. Wimbledon needed two scores and came mightily close as they worked their way up to and ultimately over the line before an unfortunate fumble in the act of attempting to ground the ball saw a golden chance slip away. They weren't done however and from the resulting scrum the ball squirted out and an opportunistic try saw Wimbledon back within 4pts at 19-15.

With the last play called by the referee the home side declined the conversion and elected to restart. Alas, the kick was too heavy and bounced straight into touch and a free-kick was awarded to the KPs. A tap and a punt to the sidelines later and the boys in pink and blue had another trophy for the cabinet.
