Albion took until the final 5 minutes of the game to finally get ahead of a dogged Lindley Swifts side on Saturday. Lindley had held a lead for the whole game before great running from Jake Moran
saw him held just short but it set the platform for James Whitcombe (Player's Player award) to crash over to score the winning try with joel
Livock (Coaches Award) tagging on the goal to see Albion to victory 16 - 10.
It had been Lindley that had looked the more lively in the opening half as they took advantage of some lacklustre Albion tackling to go over in the corner for the first score. However with Bobby Darbyshire
(Top Tackler), Kier Welch and Livock tackling anyone that ran at them Albion began to settle. After good driving from Whitcombe Will Halliday
was able to get the ball out wide to Livock who broke the home defensive line to go over and score.
Into the second half Lindley kept the pressure on and after strong running took them down field their half back put up a high kick. Albion couldn't field the ball and a good chase from the home side was rewarded as they took the ball and went over for a converted try to take their lead to 10 - 4. With Albion improving as the game went on and Whitcombe Darbyshire and Welch to the fore it was Whitcombe who went over for the first of his brace. Livock added the goal to tie the game.
With Albion's defence holding firm Harry Lewis
and Oliver Hope both broke clear but were well held by Lindley's scrambling defence. With Albion finishing the stronger it then fell to Whitcombe to get his second and snatch the win for Albion.
