Albion took on Crigglestone All Blacks in dismal conditions at Crossflatts.
After some early handling errors from both sides it was the visitors who struck first with a well executed move to touch down at the side of the posts,the goal was added. Crigglestone didn't take long to score again,but the kick was missed,Albion trailed 10-0.
Albion hit back with some neat passing down the line to reach Jamie Hodgson who scored,Alfie Seeley kicked for two only to hit the post. Albion then took the game to the All Blacks with some strong running from Man of the Match Dario Sposato, only to see Crigglestone score out wide,again the kick was missed.
From the re-start the All Blacks knocked on, from that Olek Pala took the ball from the base of the scrum to power his way over the line,Alfie kicked the conversion. Crigglstone soon hit back with another try and took the half time lead 18-10.
After a quick turn round Albion found themselves playing down the slope in the second half and some good passing again the ball came out to Jamie Hodgson on his 40m line to race past the Crigglestone defence to score his second try,Alfie converted. With the weather getting worse cold hands started to tell and a knock on from Albion saw another score to the visitors to edge in front 22-16.
The Albion players dug deep, Dario Sposato,Jason Butlin and Joe Preston making excellent runs and keeping possesion saw a perfectly weighted kick from Alfie Seeley in his own half to be chased down by Hodgson to score his hat trick,Alfie kicked the two points.
With not much time left on the clock Criggletsone gave away a penalty 20m out which Alfie converted to take Albion in front 24-22. In a tense last five minutes Albion kept up the pressure and a full length try from Jamie and the two added from Alfie saw The Albion lads win the game 30-22.
This was an exciting match and a great win from a brilliant team effort.
