Three trophies in three seasons for Ks

Kempston RFC held their AGM at Cutler Hammer.

With another good turnout, the desire to ensure the club keeps moving forward was evident.

The meeting kicked off with annuals reports from Alex Redford (Chairman), Bob Burnage (Treasurer), Martin John (Head Coach) and the Captain and Vice-Captain for the for the 2017/18 season Tom Darlow and Ritchie Powles.

Each report was full of positives and a true reflection of how the club in progressing.

Financially the club is healthy and is looking for ways to further improve this situation, including fund raising and sponsorship deals for individuals and the club as a whole.

On the pitch a very healthy: P. 20 W. 14 L. 6 (including a further win by walkover). This is particularly impressive as Kempston started the season 0-4. As the season went on it again, wasn’t uncommon to find opposition fielding stronger that advertised teams. Following a strong end to the season, Kemspton finished by beating Stockwood Park 2nds to take the Youngs Bitter Merit League title and then went on to beat Peterborough 3rds and Northampton Casuals 2nds in two thrilling matches to win the Play Offs and Grand Final. Three trophies in three seasons!

Throughout the year the club has again increased its player base, as word has spread about the atmosphere and playing style. With some more work and positive coverage it is hoped this continues to be the case.

As is customary at the AGM club positions were nominated and voted for with a couple of changes.
