Kendal Celtic’s Reserves advance into the semi finals of The Peter Daws Memorial Shield after a 1-0 win at Burneside’s Reserves!
Celtic started the better of the two sides, with some smart passing moves, however despite the good start, Celtic were unable to find the break through.
The home side’s best chance of the half came from a break away, where Ryan Fothergill made a good save at his near post.
Both sides went in all square at the break, where Celtic were unlucky not to have been at least 2 goals up at the break!
Celtic continued their dominance in the 2nd half, missing some good chances, Celtic finally made the breakthrough from the penalty spot after a needless clash in the box. Darryl Moffat stepped up to see his effort saved by the keeper, but was quickly on the rebound to score his 1st goal for the club!
Dan Collin’s team continued to push forward, and were unfortunate not to add to the scoreline, Burneside had an opportunity to draw level late in the game, however Celtic’s defence was brilliant, and was without a doubt the Celt’s best defensive performance of the season.
Everyone played very well; it was a hard job picking man of the match, with the defence playing so well and the central midfield pairing of Will Mc Fadden, and Andy Goodall controlling the game. Chris Hartley had his best game for the club, but Gary Bowles stood out playing at centre back, he was always in the right place and his passing out from the back was assured.
Well done lads lets keep the cup run going.
