Kent Valley League + South Lakes Girls League - Minutes of Respect Ambassadors Meetings
Hi All,
Following the recent Respect Ambassador’s meeting held at Burneside Cricket Club on Tuesday 30 August 2011, please see attached for the presentations that were delivered on the night by myself and Deborah Wyatt (FA Grassroots Respect Ambassador).
I trust that you found the evening to be informative and hope that the good practice shared between clubs on the night will help to further raise the profile of the Respect campaign in Westmorland across all leagues.
Following the meeting I would like to remind all ambassadors and match officials that the following should take place at each and every game within your league:
• Respect Handshake before every game
• Start the game on the right foot and this should continue throughout the game
• Talk to the Captains
• Dealing directly with the captain of each team should help to avoid mass confrontations and surrounding the officials
• Liaise with Ambassadors on match day
• Ambassadors are the point of contact between the match official and the club if any issues relating to Respect (ie Spectator behaviour) arise on a match day
• Report any serious misconduct to league/County FA
• If you cannot deal with an instance of poor behaviour on the day, please report this first to your club, then depending on the seriousness of the case pass on to the league and finally the County FA (eg, if you have a spectator who is there to support your club who’s behaviour is unacceptable, can this be dealt with through the club channels? If not then pass on to the league or County FA if necessary). If the incident relates to a member of an opposing club you may wish to write a letter to the club secretary of the opposing team to inform them of the behaviour so that this can be dealt with by their club.
• As always, if you are in any doubt and you need to speak to someone in confidence your club and league will have an appointed welfare officer. If the incident is more serious in nature then please contact the County Welfare Officer (Peter Ducksbury)
The next Respect Ambassadors Evening will take place on Thursday 26th January 2012 at the Westmorland County FA Offices, Appleby Road, Kendal, LA9 6ET.
I look forward to seeing you all there and thank you once again for your continued support in raising the profile of the Respect programme in Westmorland.
Yours in football
