It a very competitive Grand Prix, Kent won an all KIV Team plate final!

The English Grand Prix in Harrow provided a really tough weekend of play as a small but high standard field of players took to the tables.

On the Saturday, the individuals proved to be a hard day of competition with Mig, Mat, Paul, Jeremy & Terry all failing to get out of their groups in the Open & Veterans categories.

In the youth sections, Kye, Finn & Conor played both U15s & U19s but again a strong field meant Conor and Finn both got knocked out at the group stage. Kye managed to to get to the U15 Semi-finals and the U19 Barrage but lost in both matches against Belgium's Louison Giaux, returning to form, who ended up winning both the youth sections.

The team event saw Kent 'A' & Kent 'B' in action. The 'A' team of Paul, Jeremy, Mig & Kye, in Group A, lost 0-3 to Belgium's Rochefort and then in the 'crunch' game of the group they lost 0-3 to Harrow Hawks to miss out on a semi final place.
The 'B' team of Mat, Conor & Terry played with a man down losing 0-4 to Belgium's Stembert and Malta's Valletta before a 3 v 3 match against Harrow 'B'. The winners would end up against Kent 'A' in the Team plate final so a close game was anticipated.
As it was, Conor grabbed the winning goal in the tie with a 1-0 win whilst Terry and Mat drew 0-0 & 2-2 respectively to send Kent 'B' to the final again the Kent 'A' team!

The Team plate final ended up with a 3-0 win for Kent 'A' over Kent 'B' with wins for Kye and Paul over Conor & Mat. Jeremy got a walkover win whilst Terry grabbed a surprising 2-1 win over Mig to add some respectability to the scoreline.

A fun GP, hard games and always a friendly atmosphere!

Many thanks to ESA and Harrow Hawks for putting on the event - see you in July for the next GP!
