Ramsey winner keeps Kesgrave ticking
A goal from in-form Scott Ramsey with 20 minutes remaining proved to be enough for the Penguins to grind out a 1-0 win to make it nine from nine.
A tight game looked likely after a lively encounter between the side two months ago and so it proved as the first half featured little by way of goalmouth incident. Kesgrave's best chance fell to the lively Scott Ramsey who jinked in from the left flank only to fire harmlessly high and wide.
At the other end, Gaunt was booked having dropped a cross and clumsily fouled a Queens Head midfielder just outside the box. Fortunately the set piece flew wide.
In the second period Kesgrave survived a nervy opening five minutes - with a well struck angled drive clearing the angle of post and bar by a few inches. Soon they began to take control though, with the visitors struggling to keep the ball and the Penguins forcing them deeper and deeper.
Jason Ramsey was finding space down the right, but twice he was denied by the visitors' keeper - one of which was an excellent stop with his outstretched right boot.
Following a spell of heavy territorial pressure, the deadlock was broken around the 70th minute as Duff capitalised on a weak defensive header to put Scott Ramsey free on goal and although the keeper got something on his shot, it wasn't enough to prevent the ball nestling in the far corner.
The Penguins lost some fluency after the goal and were wasteful on the break. Gaunt however had little to do as Kesgrave's back four put in a terrific shift to see out the remaining minutes and clinch a well-deserved clean sheet.
