The KC Ladies set out to play their final game of the 2011 / 2012 season. The home game against local rivals Bridgnorth was set to be a difficult one.
With KC's getting off to a very slow start with un-organised defense and general mis-communication (Not helped by the massive gaps between games due to the poor league set up) Bridgnorth were quick to get the first scores on the board with a try in the first 10 minutes.
This was a wake up call for the KC ladies and having got a strong side of 16 (which hadn't happened much through out the season) they were determined to fight back and play the rugby they knew they could.
KC's came back with some superb scrummaging, strength and line out balls to eventually start the score board off with their first try from Sarah Dipper
However Bridgnorth were no pushover and consistently came back with attack after attack, getting near to the KC's try line again and again. It was only down to good solid defense and some fantastic covering tackles from Shamena Fredericks
(15) and Laura Huntbach
(10, especially) that Bridgnorth were held back.
KC's continued to push hard and with Both teams evenly matched through out More tries came from Laura Huntbach
(pace from the backs) x2, Laura Webb try x1 and yet another from Sarah Dipper
in the second half.
Towards the end of the second half the KC ladies were tiring and with some injuries, KC's allowed Bridgnorth to slip through for 2 more tries. The score ended 25-29 to Bridgnorth if only we could convert more Tries we would have come away victorious im sure!! A Masive well done though Girls, I know it is felt that this was our best game of the season and what a way to end as a fantastic unit of 16 KC players!
As this was our last game of the season! A Massive thanks to Nath, Ed, Olli, and Nick for their continuous help and support through out the season. We hope we can start a bit more positive into next season and we are always on the look out for more ladies to join our team so please put the word out there!!
