Despite half of last Saturday's starting line up missing for various reasons Kidlington's side gave a very good account of themselves in this City Security Services Limited League Challenge Cup against The Railwaymen.
The first half was a very even affair, however neither keeper had been unduly tested until the 43rd minute. At this point Didcot's David Murphy took possession of the ball on the edge of the Green's box, he hit a rasping drive past Sam Warrell into the corner of the net, to be fair it was a great strike.
So I expect a little dissapointed the Greens went into half time 1 - 0 down.
The second period started much as the first had finished with nothing between the sides, but still goal scoring chances were at a premium.
In the 60th minute Didcot's Luke Carnell saw a goal bound attempt cleared off the line by a Green's defender but although the home side tried to claim a goal the ball wasn't over the line.
As the match went on Didcot started to dominate as the Kidlington lads tired, but a re-vamped defence of Joe Coleman, Natthan Bott, Kane Finny & Josh Urquhart did well to keep the pressure of Warrell in goal.
It wasn't until the final few minutes that Kidlington threw Finny forward to see if he could unnerve the Railwaymen's defence. This tactic certainly helped turn the tide as a couple of late chances came and went for the visitors, but it was a case of too little too late i'm afraid.
All in all this was another good effort from Ady Fullers team who I'm certain gave it everything they had in the cause.
Team - Warrell, Coleman, Bott, Finny, Urquhart, Peerless, Harvey, Talboys (Hayward 82), Oddy, Carroll (Wyatt 72), Singh.
