Kidlington have not won the Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup since 1985, but on Saturday they moved a step closer as they booked their semi finals slot for the third year running.

The quarter final was an away tie, played at Cutteslowe Park on a very poor pitch wher The Greens fell behind when North Oxford’s striker, Steven Doyle shot under goalkeeper Nick Lacey. The hosts held that lead until the 20th minute when Greens wide man Jamie Wyatt scored direct from a corner. Within a minute The Greens were ahead as Jack Johnson’s fierce shot deflected into the net. Jordan Parker and Jimmy Deabill made it 4-1 at half time and it was becoming a cruise.

The second half saw some good football played by Kidlington where Callum Rice struck the bar with a fierce shot, Jimmy Deabill completed his double and Big Jimmy's strike was followed by a sixth goal from Gavin Kidd.

The Greens had coasted to victory, however one bizarre moment was about to happen in injury time. A North Oxford striker appeared to have goalkeeper Nick Lacey round the throat as he tried to punch clear a corner, due to the intense pressure on Lacey the ball inadvertently landed on Lacey and span into the net, strange as it may sound, the hosts were awarded a goal!.

Team: Nick Lacey, Jack Johnson, Jamie Wyatt, Luke Spearman, Gavin Kidd, Mark Burton, Callum Rice, Jordan Parker, Aaron Morton, Jimmy Deabill, Denilson Silva. Subs (all used) Luke Hayward, Harley Firkin and Piers Walton.

Next match up is a home league match versus New College Swindon. This Saturday (Saturday 15th December) 3.00 pm kick off.
