Evan a brilliant goal for Marvin Martin couldn't prevent Kidlington losing again.....read on

Sutton Coldfield town 4 Kidlington 2

Kidlington fell to a seventh successive Evo-stik League South Central One defeat away to promotion chasing Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Kidlington gave a very good account of themselves in the first half of this match and went in level 1 - 1 at half time, but it was after the interval that the damage was done.

The Greens fell behind on 14 minutes when defender Jack Bernisconi carelessly gave the ball away and Ryan Nesbitt gave the home side the lead lead with a powerful and well placed shot.

Kidlington fought back well and when Marvin Martin hammered in an equiliser from 25 yards out in the 22nd minute it really was game on.

Kidlington were in the ascendancy after this goal where only a smart save from home keeper Lewis Gwiliiams, he turned a goal bound Declan Benjamin shot onto the post, prevented the visitors taking the lead.

Just before the interval Tommy Castle rose highest from a corner to head powerfully for goal, unluckily his goal bound attempt hit team mate Anaclet Odhiambo virtually on the line and the chance was gone!

Kidlington finished the half on top but didn't posses a lead.

The second half started with a bang as Sutton, who likely had a bit of a dressing down during the interval, came out all guns blazing. The home side went on to take the lead as Nesbitt netted his second goal in the 49th minute with a maizy run and shot.

Kidlington were still seeing plenty of the ball, but what has been their downfall so many times just lately came back to haunt them again. The possession was good but in the final third they don't posses any real presence without a target man up top, to many times again today their attacks broke down when the ball was in this area of the field.

From a set play in the 73rd minute the home side made it 3 - 1. The ball was played deep to the far post where 3 onrushing Sutton players converged on it, none of these actually got a touch as the ball eluded Warrell and span into the net, the goal being credited to James Beresford.

The Greens tried to find a way back and Castle saw another fine headed attempt, again from a corner nearly do the trick, however the ball was cleared from just under the crossbar.

In the 88th minute persistence was rewarded when after a good run down the left of the field youngster Harry Williams provided an excellent ball into Anaclet Odhiambo to fire home from close range.

Kidlington pushed on looking to try and nick a further goal, but were caught out as a long ball forward was chased down by Nesbitt, the striker ran on to net Sutton's 4th goal and complete a hatrick for himself in added time.

The Greens once again gave a good account of themselves, but shipping goals at one end and being unable to convert at the other is the reason why Kidlington still find themselves rooted to the foot of the table.
