There was plenty of 'Huff & Puff' at our first team match at Wootton Basset on Saturday, but that couldn't be turned into goals.....read on

Wootton Bassett 1 Kidlington 1

Kidlington bossed this fixture but found goals hard to come by again as Kidlington made it 3 draws on the trot.

The 1st half belonged to Kidlington as the lads had the home side pushed back into there own half for the vast majority. Kidlington were doing well with their passing game but when a chance for a shot came it either wasn't taken or hit with no confidence.

This was a re-accruing theme in the second period until a move which saw Tommy Castle (pictured) rob the ball from a defender, he then moved in on goal and chipped the ball over the home keeper to give us the lead in the 57th minute.

After this Kidlington looked like at last they may well take the game away from the hosts, but again good chances came and went.

Bassett to their great credit offered more of a fight in this second period but didn't really look like getting on the score sheet themselves, however this was to change late in the game!

Unfortunately for our keeper Matt Hyslop he had a inadvertent helping hand in their equaliser when it came. A speculative long shot from Callum Wright, straight at Hyslop, span out of the keepers arms and past him into the net, a very uncharacteristic error I must say.

The game then fizzled out and both sides had a point a piece for their efforts.

Next up for Kiddy is Abingdon United away in the league next Saturday & then again on Tuesday in the Supplementary Cup 3rd round.
