In a 1st round tie of the 'Bluefin Sports' Challenge Cup, k.o. 3:00pm.....read on for team news

Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Division One West Lydney Town for a 1st round tie in the 'Bluefin Sports' Challenge Cup.

Kidlington are playing really well at the moment having won 6 of their last 7 games in all competition with their latest victory coming in mid-week when they won 4 - 2 away at fellow Premier Division side Thatcham Town in the ‘Flying Press’ Floodlit Cup.

Kiddy have most of their squad back from either injury or suspension which is really exciting, but will also pose the headache of who to pick for Manager Martin Wilkinson, but it’s a nice headache to have.

Kidlington sit in a strong 4th place in the table with a game in hand on leaders Ascot, but they did lose away at Thame last Saturday. This result was probably unexpected but it shows in this league this season most of the sides, especially in the top 10 places, are equally matched so any team can beat any other.

Kidlington will not go into this match with Lydney unprepared as it’s not manager Wilkinson’s way. Wilky will have studied his opposition and noted that they are also having a very good season in Div One West sitting in second place and also with a game in hand over the leaders Longlevens AFC. They have only lost once in the league and had a convincing 6 – 2 win over Tytherington Rocks in the Floodlit cup on Wednesday.

All-in-all this should be a very good match-up between 2 sides who are having very good season’s, maybe home advantage could play a part, but Wilkinson’s men will be doing their up-most to make sure it is them that come home to Oxfordshire having progressed to the next round.
