Kidlington 1st Team travel to Division One West Tuffley Rovers for a 'Bluefin Sports (Supp') Challenge Cup 2nd round tie, k.o. 3:00pm.

After a draw at league leaders Highmoor Ibis last Saturday Kidlington faced Abingdon United at Yarnton Road on Tuesday evening.

Abingdon who've recently recruited several players from Southern League Wantage Town are trying to pull themselves away from the divisions relegation places and in Tuesday match played with vigour and plenty of passion.

After Kidlington went close on a couple of occasions early on Abingdon shocked the home side by going 2 goals up before the break, this was no fluke either as they had been the better side.

After the break Kidlington did perform much better which made Abingdon back off to try and protect their lead, this coupled with several of their players tiring badly eventually allowed Kidlington back into the game. First Skipper Tommy Franklin netted in the 75th minute and then with only a couple of minutes remaining Tommy Castle equalised for the home side.

Well into added time a brilliant solo run from Lewis Coyle undid the Abingdon defence one more time and lashed a fierce shot into the net to give Kidlington a victory which looked very unlikely only minutes before. This win against Abingdon keeps Kidlington well and truly in the hunt for their 1st ever Hellenic Premier Division title.

Kidlington will want to take their league form into this cup match at Tuffley's Glevum Park, especially as this is the last cup competition Kidlington are still battling for. I'm sure Manager Martin Wilkinson will want to make his mark in this competition as early exits from most of the other cups disappointed both him and his players & staff.

For the match with Tuffley central defender Chris Blakely will be missing because of a groin strain sustained against Abingdon and midfielder Lewis Brownhill (pictured) faces a late fitness test.

For any supporters that may be travelling here's the address and postcode - Glevum Park Lower Tuffley Lane, Tuffley, Gloucester. GL2 5DT
