KFC travel to Tuffley Rovers FC for a 2nd Rd tie in the Bluefin Sports Supp' Challenge Cup, k.o. 3:00pm. Here are Manger Martin Wilkinson's thoughts..

Without a match last weekend Kidlington will travel to face Hellenic Division One West side Tuffley Rovers on Saturday with both sides going into the game in good form. Kidlington manager Martin Wilkinson expects a difficult encounter:

“Tuffley are a good team and they are still very much in contention for the Division 1 West title having lost only 2 of their 18 league fixtures this season, the last of these being way back in October last year. Arguably, they haven’t done so well in their cup fixtures but neither have we, so we will need to be well prepared prior to the game because I expect it to be a tough encounter.”

Wilkinson will be without Julian McCalmon (family), Lewis Brownhill (work) and Lewis Coyle (suspended) for the game but James McGowan (ankle), Charles Cassettari (hamstring) and Mike Bawn (illness) all return. When questioned about the strength of his Squad for the game, Wikinson commented:

“I am happy with the squad available on Saturday. We have a number of players out but a number of players are returning to the fold, so it balances out nicely. At this stage of the season, it is important to maintain momentum and I think we have enough depth in the squad in order to maintain that and the commitment of the players is exceptional in my opinion. So for their sake, it would be great if we can collect some silverware. This is the only cup competition still alive for us now, so we have to make every cup game count.”

Following their most recent draw away to Ascot, Kidlington FC still remain in contention for the Hellenic Premier League title but with only 8 league games remaining, Flackwell Heath now look firm favourites with Highmoor Ibis looking good for runners-up. Remarking on his squads Championship credentials Wilkinson said:

“Since September, the lads have had monthly targets for our league fixtures and apart from one fixture, they have achieved every target I set for them. These targets have been good enough to win the Premiership in the past but If we continue to achieve our targets and we don’t win the Premiership, then hats off to the team that wins it. As far as I am concerned, we will continue to do all we can to achieve what we set out to achieve back in September and if we manage to do that, I will be very pleased with our achievements over the season.”

Kidlington Team From - Mike Bawn, Matt Hyslop, Chris Blakely, Liam Rice, Tom Franklin, James McGowan, Ben Weedon, Chris Weedon, Jack Quainton, Ryan Curtin, Tom Castle, Charles Cassettari, Ben Willoughby, Dan Gardner & Kristian Thomas.
