A few words from the first team manager ahead of our away match at Bracknell this Saturday, k.o. 3;00pm plus team news

After a challenging start to the season, Uhlsport Hellenic League premier Division side's Kidlington Manager Martin Wilkinson has been asked for his thoughts on the progress at Yarnton Road.

After 8 games into the season, I am relatively pleased with our progress. We’ve played a number of the fancied teams in this division and we’ve acquitted ourselves well. In all honesty, the only game where I think we have been second best is the game vs Flackwell Heath when we lost 3-1. The rest of our games, we could have won had we made better decisions and not made basic mistakes.

Paul Harwood and myself are pleased our young players are developing well and now our experienced players are playing regularly together, we’re looking better with every game. On Monday night, we played Binfield in what was one of the best games I have witnessed at this level for some time. Both sides were strong and the pace of the game was relentless. However, Kidlington created the best chances in the second half and deservedly came out winners in the end with an excellent 2-0 win away from home.

The challenge now is to build some momentum and for the players to push each other to improved performances. Paul and I are planning to make a couple of additions to the squad over the next few weeks and we will re-assess where we stand at the end of next month. You can rest assured, we haven’t finished yet and there is much more to come from Kidlington FC and this group of players. Paul and I will remain focused on the football and our intention is to get this club into the Southern League. The club might not be ready for that step yet but I can promise that no side will get an easy game against us this season. On our day, we can beat any team in this division. The players we have at the club have the genuine ability to re-write the history books at Yarnton Road and it would be nice to see them lift some silverware and progress to the next level. Time will tell.

Kidlington now face another tough trip this Saturday afternoon when they travel to face Bracknell Town. Wilkinnson shoul dhave the same squad available to him that did so well at Binfield, so I'm sure they will be looking for another good result.
