Kidlington’s reserves continued their good run of form last night with a 2-0 win away to Abingdon United.

Abingdon have been on a fantastic run of form and despite the terrible swirling wind started match playing some slick football. This culminated in a penalty following their striker Jacob Keeble being upended in the box by the greens’ central defender, Danny Burrows. Keeble dusted himself down and took the kick himself but struck the ball wide of the post. This galvanised the greens and despite Abingdon having the better of the opening half, it remained 0-0.

The second half started at an electric pace and this was instigated by the greens. In the 47th minute, from a Flanagan throw in, Adam Wells danced into the box, then squared the ball to Kidlington’s very own “little alladin” Watheq Al Hakam and he slammed the ball high into the net. Kidlington then showed their undoubted ability by dominating the entire second half. Youngster Harry Whitehead was introduced early at centre forward and in the 61st minute he showed great strength and pace, bursting into the box. Abingdons centre half had no option but to bring young Harry down. Skipper Callum Rice stepped up and slammed the ball into the net.

Kidlington had a number of further chances to score a third but settled for a very good 2-0 win.
