New Players - Welcome to the Cosmos!
Been recruited? Here's some more info on playing for the Cosmos senior teams.
I'm interested, what do I need to do?
Just pop down to a training session to meet the team and give it a go.
Do I need any experience?
You don't need to be an experienced player to join either the men's or ladies teams. We run two men's teams so new players will get a chance to play and build experience. The ladies team is currently playing in a development league and new players can get on the pitch as soon as they feel ready.
Does it cost anything to join?
There's no charge to come down and train with the club. If you decide to join, there's an annual fee to register with the club and the RFU. There's a charge of £5 on match days to cover transport and food.
When is training?
Men's training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm at the rugby pitch in Gladstone Park. Ladies are training on Tuesday nights only at 7pm for the next few weeks, same location. If you let us know you're coming we can include you in any updates to training times, just send a message to the team contact on this site.
When are the games?
Men's matches are on Saturday afternoons, Ladies play on Sundays. All league fixtures have been uploaded to this site, click the tab of team you're interested in playing for.
I've not played before, do I need any special kit?
If it's dry you should be fine to try a training session in trainers or mouldies. If you stick with it you'll need rugby boots and a gum shield. Match shirts (and shorts for the ladies) are provided by the club and you'll get a pair of match socks when you pay your annual membership.
Do I need to be really fit?
We take players of all abilities so don't worry about your current fitness level, we're here to fix that!
