Greenwood trophy 20 over match
Another good win and their early season good form continues
Last Thursday saw the 1st 11 travel to Titwood to take on Clydesdales 2nd 11 in a Greenwood trophy 20 over match. At one of the nicer grounds in the West of Scotland, on a good wicket and against a good side it promised to be an interesting fixtures.
Kilmarnock bowled first and did well to restrict their opponents to 144 for 2 from their 20 overs. Captain Niamat Ali bowling a superb opening spell of 4 overs for 7 runs before injury struck that could see him miss up to a month of the season.
A challenging total but on that wicket Kilmarnock were the favourites. The favourites tag did not seem to hinder Kilmarnock as they set about their total positively. Munir Ahmed continued his fine form, hitting successive boundaries but perished going for one big shot too many and departed for 21.
That allowed Azhar Abdullah to come to the crease and his impressive early season form continued. He was impressed everyone since he's arrived and he combined brilliantly with Flanagan. They ran well between the wickets and put the bad balls away.
With only 2 needed to win Azhar was caught for a magnificent 76. That allowed Flanagan the pleasure of stroking the next ball to the boundary to see Kilmarnock home with an over to spare. Another good win and their early season good form continues.
