1st XI Protest in National Village Competition
Kimbolton 1st XI decided against hosting Foxton after the controversy caused last year in the same competition.
Kimbolton were kicked out after defeating Foxton last year for fielding an ineligible player and despite the away side were proven to have also broken the rules on a number of counts were allowed passage to the regional final where they met Longstanton Grasshoppers.
Despite further protests from Longstanton, where they were met by a side full of paid players (which clearly breaches rule 11 sub-clauses IV, V and VI.), Foxton were allowed to progress to the national rounds.
Longstanton also joined the protest this season by refusing to enter the 2012 competition, and with more teams poised to do so for the 2013 competition it seems like Foxton's continual disregard for the rules may see the board having to review the case.
Kimbolton would like to wish Reach 1st XI the best of luck in their semi-final against Foxton and also Great Shelford the best of luck in their semi final against Fordham.
