Open Age Winter Team - Match centre

Cowling Harlequins
King Cross Park A
Sat 19 Mar 14:30 - Pennine ARL - Division Four West Full time

Meddling kids

Fielding 13 under 18s King Cross Park A Team had too much pace and skill for their Keighley opponents. Solid defence and forward sets laid the platform to move the ball for centre Dan Watkinson to score 2 out wide followed by loose forward Matt Brown. Having set up scores for others and threatening scoots all season hooker Jamie Morton was rewarded with a try for himself. After Cowling pulled one back prop Adam Beare demonstrated his athleticism with a step, dive and one handed touchdown. Man of the match Scooby Doo character Izaac Beaumont kept up the pressure with repeated drives and latest recruit Billy Broome got stuck in to help set up hard working second rower Taylor Craven Carter. The Harlequins posted a warning with a try and 12 - 32 scoreline on half time.

Winger Ben Robertshaw switched to stand off and immediately showed his skills to find pacy full back Halden Thoseby who finished in style. Cousin Josh Robertshaw made repeated breaks from whichever position he was placed then Ben stepped in again to put over Watkinson for his hat trick and sulky scrum half Jonny Binns. The home side threatened a comeback with 3 tries and it took strong defence from Owain Griffiths and Matt Bicknell then a strong finish from scabby eared second rower Jamie Battye to calm the nerves. With his army of groupies in support winger Henry Wilson completed a fine flowing move with Jonny and Josh sharing the kicking honours.

Tries - Dan Watkinson 3, Matt Brown, Jamie Morton, Adam Beare, Taylor Craven Carter, Halden Thoseby, Jonny Binns, Jamie Battye, Henry Wilson
Goals - Jonny Binns 3, Josh Robertshaw 4
Man of the match - Izaac Beaumont
