KINGS LYNN BLACK KNIGHTS MATCH REPORT
THE Black Knights played host to St Albans Centurions in a League and cup double header. But quick thinking Harry Mahoney taking the ball from acting half back and crashed over the line out wide, no conversion. Some bad tackling let st Albans back in the game within minutes, letting them in at the side of the posts, missing the kick too. 4-4.
A break from Jon Trede, who off loaded to Jordan Tucker, who romped in under the posts . Then another interception from brother Matt Trede, who ran 50yards, backed up by Mahoney again who touched down under the posts, Trede adding the extras. Tucker again used his pace to break free running 50yards, again backed up by Mahoney who took the pass and went in for his third under the posts. Then lack of concentration and bad tackling let the Centurions score two tries in minutes, just before half time, 20-12.
A confident St Albans team came out in the second half scoring again early in the half, running unchallenged from half way to go in under the posts. But Captain Sean Brundle barged his way over to go in at the side of the posts, Matt Trede converting. More bad tackling from the Knights let the Centurions score another easy try under the posts. Mitch Anderson , playing his first game of the season, forced his way over the line, but was supposedly held up, no try. He hit back within minutes though, after some great ball handling from one side of the pitch to the other, he took the last pass and went over out wide. With the rain getting heavier, the ball became hard to hold onto, both sides dropping the ball at crucial moments, but with minutes to go the Centurions managed to hold on to the ball, breaking free and run in under the posts, kicking the crucial two points. With the score at 30 all, both teams tried to get the upper hand, but the wet ball meant scrum after scrum, and the match ended all square. It was decided both teams would take the point for the league game, and an extra 5 minutes each way, and a golden point.
From the kick off, the knights took the ball toward the opposition’s line, Mitch Anderson, doing his usual quarter back sneak, forced his way over the line, taking the game and putting the Knights into the final.
