Interested in participating in an A race this year? Dip your toe in without the need of a full race CI license.

This year you can register for a race if you don't have a CI license or if you have a limited license. As long as the race organisers are offering the facility.

The race organiser will control the process and if they havent applied for one day licenses? Therefore they will not offer them and unfortunately the event isn't an option for you.

Typical a race entry fee is £12 - you register and pay via entry central

You need to be quick though as the race has limited places and fills up quickly. So you need to know when the race registration opens. Watch Entry Central, Cycling Ulster and Facebook for alerts on when this will be.

The one day license is then purchased on the day, in addition to your race entry that you've already paid for via entry central.

  • No license = £20
  • CI license = £8

How it works

One day licenses are used where people with no Cycling Ireland membership or not an appropriate license type may participate in an event. The cost of a one day license is between €10 and €20 for competitive events. Clubs who would like one day licenses will need to fill in a one day license request form, email it to Cycling Ireland who will then issue a numbered one day license sheet. This sheet will then be used to sign in the people who will be participating on one day licenses. After the event, the club will submit payment to Cycling Ireland.

6: On the day of the events, all participants should sign on. If people are on one day licenses, they should sign the one day license sheet, whilst other Cycling Ireland members should sign in on the ordinary sign on sheets. It is important that everyone signs in as this is the record of attendance in the event of an insurance claim.

7: After the event, you should submit sign on sheets to Cycling Ireland, and submit any fees due for one day licenses.
