Ok, so they won't ACTUALLY be training with the England squad, but the Rhinos have been given a huge privilege to experience the world's first fully immersive 360-degree virtual reality sports experience.
Using the revolutionary Oculus Rift technology, our young players will be immersed into a multi-sensory world where it will feel like they are part of the senior England Rugby squad.
The Oculus Rift is touring the country thanks to O2 and its ‘Wear the Rose’ campaign which is encouraging fans to get behind their national team through the 6 Nations and in the run up to the Rugby World Cup in September.
The experience was created using nine GoPro Hero 3 cameras in a custom built setting, specifically designed to exploit the capabilities of Oculus Rift. After developing the technology to capture the video, it took a further 160 hours of filming and 320 hours of development to create an experience that allows users to turn their head in any direction, with the content responding and moving in unison, displaying a full 360-degree visual spectrum.
The Oculus Rift truck will be at Hopwood Park this Sunday (March 8) for the young Rhinos to enjoy.
