What originally on paper appeared to be a match against one other team eventually turned into a mini tournament, with Linlithgow A & B teams, Madras and Alloa/Grangemouth as opposition.
On a fairly small pitch, with a referee who did not play the 6 phases then ball over rule, ball retention was always going to be important.
In all 4 matches played, Kinross were excellent in attack, being patient, and waiting for gaps to materialise. Not only that but the standard of passing along the lines was brilliant. This attack combined with a resolute defensive line, ensured that it was going to be hard for the opposition to score.
Kinross started against Linlithgow B, and came away comfortable 5-3 winners. In the second match we were up against our old rivals Madras. The match turned out to be a tight affair, but brilliant defense ensured that Kinross ran out 3-1 winners.
Next up was Linlithgow A, who were a better level of opposition that the B team from the first match. Again fairly close but 3-2 victory for Kinross. The tournament type format then meant tit was a further 20 minute wait before the Kinross boys would take to the field for their final match, some past and much chocolate later and a lethargic team took to the field for the final match v Alloa/Grangemouth. Despite the score being 1-1 at halftime, Kinross ran out 3-1 winners.
What turned into a long day, yes again turned out to be a great success for the micros, 4 matches played with 4 wins. A great performance by the entire team.
The micros have played against 13 other teams this season, with only 1 match lost (which was TAG not touch) - very well done to all players.
