Kinross secure home win against Fife Southern
Kinross started in a positive manner, buoyed by their win at Madras, and quickly started moving the ball around the pitch. They were rewarded with an early penalty, successfully converted by Gav Hardie. The team kept up the tempo and were rewarded with two long-range tries. The first from Fraser Ross came after a long-range burst from Keith Tolson. This was followed by Graham Kilby opening his account for the senior team. For the second week running Sid McAuley burst through the defence, beating several players, only to be thwarted again by the full-back.
We then seemed to take our foot off the gas a little, but still did enough to add a further Gav Hardie penalty. We were also disrupted either side of half time with a few injuries, including both centres, however we were starting to dominate in the tight. From one of these scrums, the Fife Southern pack splintered and unfortunately one of their front row appeared to suffer a serious injury. This resulted in the match being moved to the small pitch while he was treated and it going to uncontested scrums. As a result, the final 30 minutes was very scrappy, but we still added to our score with a Keith Tolson try.
Overall, it was a good win, but we were disappointed to miss out on the bonus point after such a strong start.
MoM – Graham Kilby
