Fired up Kinross in vital win

Right from the start it was obvious that the Kinross team was fired up after last weeks disappointed result. They immediately took the game to the "off-colour" Carnoustie team was were rewarded when Kieron Methven beat several men in midfield and scorched over for the opening try. Stuart Hunter converted this and quickly added a penalty to extend the lead. Credit to Carnoustie who fought back and scored a 7-pointer themselves to keep the temperature high. Just before half time, Keith Tolson picked up a pass from his favoured ranged and fired himself (along with a few defenders) over the line to stretch the home team's lead.

As expected, the visitors came out ablaze at the start of the second half. The Kinross team defended the onslaught very well but eventually Carnoustie got a deserved score to reduce the Kinross lead to one point. However Kinross did not let the temperature drop and soon regained the upper hand. During one of the skirmishes, Kinross started to fight fire with fire, but unfortunately this resulted in a yellow card for a Carnoustie player and Lewis davis, our fiery number 9. It was during this period that Stuart Hunter reverted to his old scum half position and from a turnover, he dummied several visiting players to open his try account in senior rugby and score in the corner. He also came close with another 2 attempts.

As the game drew to a close, the temperature was white hot and in the inferno, Carnoustie lost a bit discipline giving Kinross a few chances to close out the game. We eventually did this with a penalty from the impressive Stuart Hunter, despite some ill-mannered shouting from some of the older visiting fans, who had obviously felt burnt by their experience.
